After part-exchanging your car, you must notify the DVLA to remove the car from your name and cancel road tax, but only after handing it over. Keep road tax and insurance active until then. Contact your insurer to cancel insurance. Notify the DVLA online or by posting the yellow slip from your V5C, having your V5C reference number ready. Do not notify before handover, as this cancels your road tax immediately.
Do I need to cancel the tax and insurance on my part-exchange?
